According to a news story from Radio Iowa, Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who represents Iowa’s 2nd District, says she expects a bipartisan solution to emerge to resolve the debate over the expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies — but she says any deal must include new income restrictions.
Hinson says her biggest concern is ending fraud and abuse, noting that some “incredibly wealthy folks” have used the tax credits. Americans with incomes 400 percent above the poverty line became eligible in 2021 for the tax credits for insurance policies purchased through the ACA Marketplace.
Hinson says she prefers direct federal payments into Health Savings Accounts that consumers could use to purchase insurance.
