The Hardin County Board of Supervisors met Wednesday to address holiday scheduling, budget planning and departmental updates.
Chair Lance Granzow and the board approved moving the Christmas Eve meeting to December 23rd and granted Granzow authority to cancel future meetings with 24 hours’ notice to avoid unnecessary expenses when agendas are light.
They set a December 31st public hearing for a fiscal year 2026 budget amendment and certified utility valuations for the upcoming fiscal year.
A staffing promotion in the sheriff’s office was approved as a change of status for Lindsey Hamm was modified from part-time to full-time at a rate of $22.09 per hour.
Supervisor BJ Hoffman reported on his legislative outreach regarding House File 718, expressing concerns about its financial impact on local governments despite its continued movement.
Granzow also noted a recent manure-application complaint investigated by the county and forwarded to the DNR. The board closed by outlining steps toward establishing EMS as an essential service, beginning with creating an advisory council in January. It was stated that the board must coordinate with local EMS agencies to establish the council, though those agencies do not have to be members of the council.
