Attorney General Brenna Bird says Iowa is part of a multistate settlement with the home improvement chain Menards.

In a statement, the attorney general’s office says the settlement resolves claims from 2020 that the company incorrectly marketed its 11% rebate program.

Under the settlement, Menards has agreed to clearly communicate rebate limitations and allow customers one year from the date of purchase to apply for a rebate. The company will also update its online rebate tracker within 48 hours of an application and provide clearer information on how returns affect rebates.

Iowa will receive nearly $447,000 as part of the settlement.

Attorneys general from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota also joined the agreement.
