
Gas prices across Iowa continue to trend lower as the holiday travel period approaches.
According to AAA, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa is $2.42 per gallon as of Tuesday, down 6 cents from last week and 36 cents lower than a year ago. The national average stands at $2.86, a decrease of 5 cents from last week.
Locally, GasBuddy reports regular unleaded prices as of Tuesday morning at $2.69 per gallon in Hampton, $2.59 in Allison, and $2.67 in Ackley.
AAA reports retail diesel prices in Iowa fell 8 cents this week to a statewide average of $3.31 per gallon, which is 28 cents below the national average.
Crude oil prices moved higher this week, with West Texas Intermediate crude rising to $58.09 per barrel and Brent crude increasing to $62.12, though both remain well below prices seen one year ago.
