
The AP/GC girls wrestling team was the champion at Friday’s Megan Black Invitational at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Scoring 179.5 points, they edged the hosts by 2.5 points.
Five earned podium finishes. Grace Storjohann was the champion at 120, pinning her way to the title without ever leaving the first period. Zoey Uhlenhopp earned four pins on her way to the 155 title, with only the final match reaching the second period. Queveah Books was the 190 champion, with three pins, two of which entered the second period.
Bailey Sherman placed third at 100. After falling in the quarterfinal, she won three straight to earn the bronze. Caylee Harken was third at 140. She fell in the semifinal, but pinned her way to the third place finish.
They’ll return to action Friday, January 9 at a tournament at Central Elkader.
