The Franklin County Board of Supervisors took action Tuesday to move forward with funding plans for courthouse projects and approved several resolutions related to secondary roads and county operations.
During the regular meeting, supervisors directed the county auditor to proceed with a general obligation bond and to place the courthouse into an urban renewal area for funding purposes.
The board approved multiple resolutions authorizing County Engineer Jay Waddingham to certify completion of farm-to-market road projects, collect federal disaster relief funds, and close secondary roads during emergencies or necessary construction and repair work.
Supervisors also approved a construction evaluation resolution under Iowa’s master matrix process, allowing the county to review and make recommendations on proposed confinement feeding operations through January 2027.
In other business, the board made several annual appointments for 2026, including emergency management, veterans affairs, secondary roads and general services, and set the Hampton Chronicle as the county’s official newspaper.
