Iowa Falls-Alden posts multiple podium finishes at ADM Invitational

Kolbe Hansen captured a championship and several Cadets earned podium finishes as Iowa Falls-Alden turned in a strong team effort, placing sixth in the 11-team field at Saturday’s ADM Tiger Varsity Invitational.

Hansen captured the 126-pound title by advancing to the championship match with a technical fall and a pin before defeating ADM’s Landon Moorhead by decision.

At 120 pounds, Zane Gillespie placed second. Gillespie advanced to the championship match with a pair of pins before falling by technical fall to Southeast Polk’s Matthew Prine.

Sam Robinson earned a third-place finish at 144 pounds. Robinson opened with a major decision before dropping a semifinal match to Southeast Polk’s Kane Price. In the consolation bracket, Robinson pinned Waukee Northwest’s Cole Casler and then defeated ADM’s Liam Freeman by decision. 

Kyler Patton also finished third at 150 pounds. Patton won by decision in his opening match and was pinned by ADM’s Ethan Johnson in the semifinals. Patton rebounded in the consolation bracket with a decision over Waukee Northwest’s Eli Herman, then closed with a decision over Red Oak’s Dayton Gusman.

Jag Jess placed fifth at 215 pounds. Jess recorded a technical fall in his opening match before dropping a sudden-victory decision in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, Jess lost by fall to Roland-Story’s Roman Stotts and then pinned Clarke’s Adair Rosales.

At 285 pounds, Trayvahn Williams placed fifth. Williams earned a pin in his opening match before losing by major decision in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, Williams lost by decision in sudden victory to Waukee Northwest’s Gabe Winter, then finished with a pin over Red Oak’s Oliver Dykes.
