Local high school speech groups were named Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group All-State nominees Monday, following state competitions held Saturday. Northeast Region Selections:
Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s ensemble acting group “I Don’t Wanna Talk About It” was named a performing entry featuring Alycia Martinez, Jaslene Tevalan, Anna Robles, Jessica Simmons and Yesi Valenzuela. The ensemble acting group “#Viral” was selected as non-performing, featuring Alice Rosenberg, Emma Dietz, Alie Storr, Maren Subbert, Autumn Janssen and Marlee Maas. The Bulldogs also received a non-performing selection in readers theatre for “The Cages We Built.”, featuring America Dominguez, Kooper Tranel, Nick Quasdorf, Natalie Birdsell, Aaden Keehn, Eva Dohlman, Anna Robles and Jack Hindin.
North Butler’s group improvisation team of Nora Miller, Taylor Debner and Leila Koppen was selected as non-performing. The Bearcats ensemble acting piece “BUN-GEE!” featuring Addison Voelker and Drew Vorhes also earned a non-performing nomination.
Aplington-Parkerburg’s short film “Stolen” produced by Noah Harbaugh, Emma Haan, Elise Thome, Harris Oakes, Sierra Sessler, Kolbon Hoppenworth and Jonah Carney was selected as non-performing.
The 2026 IHSSA Large Group All-State Festival will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at Iowa State University.
