Two Top of Iowa West teams will meet for the third time this season when Belmond-Klemme hosts North Union in a Class 1A District 2 final Tuesday night. The game will air on 104.9 KLMJ.
The Broncos swept the Warriors in the regular-season series, but Head Coach Justin Meyer says familiarity does not guarantee anything.
“We played North Union a couple times this year,” says Meyer. “Been good back and forth games. We ended up winning both of those, but just because you win twice in the regular season, it happens all the time. Hard to beat a team a third time.”
Belmond-Klemme (17-5) advanced with a 74-52 semifinal win over West Fork. Brody Heifner and Kysen Lamb each scored 27 points in that contest. Heifner leads the Broncos at 22 points per game, while Lamb averages 16.2.
North Union (14-9) earned its spot with a 68-59 victory over Newman Catholic. Khael Jones scored 23 in that game and leads the Warriors at 20.7 points per game.
The winner advances to face either MMCRU or Sibley-Ocheyedan on Saturday night with a trip to state on the line.
Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45.
