
South Hardin showed progress on both sides of its basketball program during the 2025-26 season as the Tiger girls adjusted to a coaching change and the boys picked up a late-season win over a ranked opponent.
The Tiger girls, under first-year Head Coach Kellie Drury, finished 10-13 overall and 7-11 in North Iowa Cedar League play. In postseason action, South Hardin defeated Union Community 45-38 before falling to Grundy Center in a Class 2A Region 8 quarterfinal. Ayda Eller led the Tigers in scoring at 13.1 points per game and also led the team with 43 assists. Kathleen Mosher pulled down a team-high 148 rebounds.
The South Hardin boys finished 13-10 overall and 9-9 in the North Iowa Cedar League. In the second-to-last game of the regular season, the Tigers defeated No. 8 in Class 2A Union Community 78-73. In postseason play, South Hardin defeated Woodward-Granger before falling to Kuemper Catholic in a Class 2A District 4 semifinal. Sam Benson led the team at 13.3 points per game and added a team-best 149 rebounds. Jake Balvanz averaged 13 points per game, and Clayton Cable recorded a team-high 87 assists.
