State Rep. Josh Turek, one of two Iowa Democrats running for the U.S. Senate, has released a checklist of more than 70 policies he said he would pursue if elected.
Turek supports raising the minimum wage, cracking down on corporate monopolies and addressing pharmacy benefit managers, which he said are inflating the cost of medications.
He is also proposing a five-year moratorium to prevent Wall Street investment firms from buying single-family homes. Turek said too many homes are being purchased by private equity firms, making affordable housing more difficult for first-time buyers to find.
Turek said there should also be limits on private equity firms owning nursing homes and health care clinics.
He campaigned in Cedar Rapids, Sioux City and Orange City over the weekend.
