The Hampton-Dumont School District has launched its five-year community survey as part of its Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA), inviting residents to help guide the future of local education.
District officials say the survey is designed to gather feedback on programs, facilities and career-readiness efforts to ensure they align with community needs. Open to all residents within district boundaries, the survey seeks input from parents, community members, and others invested in the district’s success.
Superintendent Tim Felderman says community participation is critical to the process, emphasizing the survey is a required step in evaluating how well the district is meeting expectations and planning for the future.
“Every five years, school districts in the state of Iowa are required to complete a comprehensive local needs assessment. And what the schools do with that information is, it’s for us to listen, learn, and find different ways to improve what our academics, our sports, safety and security, all of our programming across the district. And the best way for us to find out what we need to improve upon is ask the question to our community, to our parents. So we know what to improve upon. So we actively want your feedback. We want you to be honest with us because we can only improve when people are honest with us.”
Responses will play a key role in identifying both strengths and areas for improvement, helping shape strategic planning through 2031. Topics range from academic priorities to the effectiveness of district communication.
The survey is available on the district’s website under the “In the News” section and on its social media pages.
