Hardin County officials are moving quickly toward a public vote on EMS funding, with multiple assignments handed out Wednesday to shape a proposed property tax levy.
Supervisors and advisory board members agreed to continue developing a $0.75 per $1,000 levy, directing the EMS advisory group to define exactly how funds can and cannot be used ahead of a public workshop.
Additional steps include consulting auditors on oversight requirements, drafting detailed referendum language for review at the April 15 meeting, and ensuring legal compliance. The board signaled support for a reimbursement-based system requiring documentation before payments are made.
While routine items like budgets, road plans, and personnel changes were approved, discussion centered on stabilizing EMS services, which face ongoing shortfalls and staffing challenges. Final referendum language and structure remain in development.
