The Butler County Extension Office is introducing a new summer program aimed at young children, designed to expand early learning opportunities in the area.
The program, called Little Clover Sprouts, is geared toward children ages 3 to 7 and will feature monthly, hands-on educational activities focused on topics such as colors, insects and dinosaurs.
Program coordinator Lesley Milius says the initiative is designed to combine learning and play for younger participants.
“We are going to do a program called Little Clover Sprouts this summer,” Milius says. “And basically we’re going to kind of go through some programs to help those littles learn, play and grow pretty much in their different activities and learning about the environment that surrounds them.”
The program will consist of sessions lasting about one hour.
Milius says the idea for the program came after identifying a gap in local opportunities.
“Sometimes here in this rural area that we live, the opportunities are limited,” Milius said. “There are things for them to do, but they’re just not as readily available as they are in some of the larger, more urban towns around us.”
The program is free to attend, and registration is encouraged. For more information, contact the Butler County Extension Office at 319-267-2707.
