The Franklin County Board of Supervisors handled a mix of staffing, infrastructure, and policy discussions during their Tuesday meeting.
Supervisors approved the hiring of Gilberto Luna as a sheriff’s deputy, setting his wage at $31.92 per hour for fiscal year 2026 and $32.62 for FY2027. Secondary Roads Engineer Jay Waddingham also provided a department update, including ongoing coordination with Alliant on a road use agreement tied to battery storage projects.
Battery storage facilities remained a key topic, with Supervisor Gary McVicker noting continued public feedback and suggesting a possible moratorium on future expansion. However, officials said timing may be difficult due to upcoming Planning and Zoning meetings and publication requirements.
The board also approved a 28E agreement with the Wright County Conservation Board for a shared employee and set a May 26 public hearing for a proposed fiscal year 2026 budget amendment.
