Hampton Man Gets Four Days in Jail After Driving Through HS

The man who drove through the front entrance of Hampton-Dumont-CAL High School in December was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with all but four days suspended.

According to police, Kirk Gunderson, 64, of Hampton, drove through the high school around 9 p.m. on Dec. 27. He returned to the scene, several minutes after police arrived, where he admitted to driving through the school and failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested, charged and taken into custody that evening.

Gunderson, who was convicted of one count of operating while under the influence – first offense, was also given one year of probation and a $1,250 fine. He is eligible for a two-day weekend diversionary program, according to court documents.
