Monday night was another record-setting performance for the West Fork track teams, as the boys and girls broke three school records at the Eagle Relays in Britt.
After winning the discus Friday night at the Jim Basye Coed Relays in Hampton with a throw of 153-7, Dax Suntken shattered West Fork’s school discus record in Britt with a throw of 161-2. Suntken’s mark broke the previous school record of 155-1, set in 2009.
Speaking about chasing the school record, Suntken says he has been focused on cleaning up details in his throwing technique.
“A lot things is kind of working with your left hand, I guess, and you want to get a nice wide base going on, so that really helped me,” says Suntken. “That’s something I was struggling with.”
Also in the boys discus, Kenden Neilsen had a personal-record throw of 147-7.
Rylan Dorenkamp added another school record for West Fork in the 200 meter. Dorenkamp finished in 22.98, breaking the previous mark of 23.00 set in 2013.
Talia Pommrehn reset her own school record for the third time this season in the 100 meter, finishing in 13.09. Her previous record was 13.12.
