Looking back one of my earliest musical influences was The California Raisins, funny I know but I loved their music which it turned out to be some of the great 60’s music that we enjoy every night on the 60’s at 6 here on KLMJ. I Heard It Through The Grapevine, Cool Jerk, I Got You (I Feel Good) and Tutti-Frutti were and are still some of my all time favorite songs. My introduction to the California Raisins was a VHS cassette tape I got from my folks for Christmas (I think it was Christmas, it was a gift anyway lol). Funny enough I owe my mother, Janeen a thank you for my musical tastes. You can blame her for my love for KISS as well as it was her Vinyl Record that I discovered to find one of the greatest bands ever LOL. Back to the Raisins, how many of you remember going to Hardee’s to collect the figurines? I still have mine and some of them decorate my desk here at the studio. I’m very fond of the California Raisins because they were my introduction to some great music that I love to this day and if it wasn’t for a fun cartoon I may not have listened to some of these songs when I was a kid. I very much enjoy the 60’s at 6 here on KLMJ and as long as we keep great music like this playing across the airwaves, good old Rock n Roll will never die.
