The Hampton-Dumont-CAL and Iowa Falls-Alden volleyball team will both return to the court following extended breaks from competition to renew their rivalry series on Thursday. It will also be senior night for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will recognize nine seniors ahead of the match including Kenzie Moorehead, Abby Drier, Shayla Podolan, Aubree Gronewold, Karli Hansen, Mallory Rieken, Zandrea Erdman, Aubryee Showalter and Charlee Morton.
H-D-CAL (11-8, 3-2 NCC) played their first match since October 1st, which was a 3-1 non-conference win over Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. The Bulldogs have the third highest kill efficiency in the conference at .150. Senior Aubryee Showalter has had the power swing on the Bulldogs front line with 157 kills. Senior Aubree Gronewold has kept the offense moving with 285 assists.
H-D-CAL Head Coach Sarah Miller on the memories senior night brings and playing efficiently.
“It’s gonna be very special because it’s senior night and that just brings lots of emotions and some great memories,” says Miller. “When we play Iowa Falls, it’s always a good battle. We have to be prepared and make sure that we’re being efficient with what we need to do. Making sure that we’re covering where we need to and everyone’s doing their job. It’s gonna be a big game for us we’re focusing on that.”
Iowa Falls-Alden (5-19, 1-4 NCC) will play their first match since September 30th, which was a 3-0 loss to Webster City. The Cadets have challenged opponents at the net with 145 blocks, which is the fourth most in the conference. Sophomore Carlea Dagel is the Cadets lead blocker with 48 (fifth most in conference) and also leads the team in kills with 151.
H-D-CAL won earlier meeting this season 2-0 at Belmond-Klemme tournament on September 14th.
Pre-match coverage begins at 7:20 p.m. followed by the first serve at 7:30 p.m. in Hampton.
