Conservation Drainage School, August 26-28, 2025
Nashua, IA – Iowa State University (ISU) Extension and Outreach will host the Conservation Drainage School from August 26-28, 2025, at the Borlaug Learning Center on ISU’s Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm in Nashua, Iowa. This educational program will focus on practical and science-based subsurface drainage practices that help improve water quality downstream. With both classroom learning, field visits, and hands-on training, participants will explore the design and function of several conservation-focused systems including saturated buffers, bioreactors, constructed wetlands, controlled drainage, oxbows, and two-stage ditches.
The school is designed for a wide range of participants including contractors, farmers, engineers, watershed coordinators, and local officials. Registration costs $475 if completed by August 11. Late registration is $525 and closes on August 18. The fee includes meals, materials, and reference documents. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
The course also qualifies for Professional Development Hours and Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) continuing education units.
