Buyer demand remained strong in Iowa despite a tight inventory of homes

Inventory and pending sales remained the bright spots in the Iowa housing market in April.

The Iowa Association of Realtors reports that last month 3,532 homes were listed in the state, a 3-point-5 percent increase from the previous month. Home sales took a small tumble in April with 2,387 properties sold, which is down 6 percent from March.

The pending sales of 3,061 homes represents a 36-point-8 percent decrease from April of 2022. The days on the market increased year-over-year to 45 days compared to the 36 day average of April 2022.

The median sales price of single family homes in April increased 3-point-4 percent year-over-year to 215-thousand dollars.
