Parkersburg American Legion hosting Memorial Day services Monday

The Parkersburg American Legion will hold Memorial Day services Monday.

The first ceremony will begin at 8:15 a.m. at Depot Park, followed by St. Patrick Cemetery at 8:40. Both will feature comments and prayer, wreath placing, the firing of volleys and taps.

At 9:00 a.m., the ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery will begin. This will feature a welcome by Commander Neal Schrage, keynote speaker Leon Mosley, presentation of Legion Family Members of the Year, and announcement of youth essay and poster contest winners.

The services will include performances by the Aplington-Parkersburg High School Band under the direction of Thom Mahler.

A breakfast will also be held from 7:00 a.m. to noon.
