Man charged with murder in Hardin County plans on fighting his extradition
The Iowa man charged with first degree murder for killing an Iowa Falls woman May 26th in Eldora plans on fighting his extradition back to the state.
Nathan Bahr was arrested Monday night in Gilbert, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, and is being held in the county jail there, for allegedly shooting and killing Desiree Folsom.
Folsom died the day after a judge issued a restraining order against Bahr. Folsom had filed the petition for relief from domestic abuse with the courts on May 15th.
If Bahr does fight his extradition back to Iowa, the Hardin County Attorney’s Office will have to prepare a formal request proving that the county’s warrant is valid and that the suspect being held is the named person and that probable cause exists to believe the suspect committed the offense. Then a requisition must be filed with the Iowa Governor’s Office for a Governor’s warrant, and then the office of the Governor of Iowa formally files for extradition with the Office of the Governor of Arizona.
The entire process can take weeks to complete.
