Vehicle strikes bank building in Rockwell

About 4:30pm Thursday, the Rockwell Police Department was called out on the report of a property damage collision.

A 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 82-year-old John Gasperi of Mason City was on the south end of 319 Main Street East at the First Security Bank and Trust location when he put the vehicle in drive believing he put the vehicle in reverse.

He ended up going forward and colliding with the south end of the bank building, shattering one of the front windows and disabling his vehicle.

Gasperi was transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center after complaining of knee pain.
