Man convicted of kidnapping in Wright County dies
73-year-old Pete Michael Alspach was pronounced dead due to an unexpected medical emergency Saturday afternoon in the Newton Correctional Facility.
Allspach had been serving a life sentence for the charge of 1st degree kidnapping from Wright County. His sentence began on July 9th, 1993.
Alspach and his nephew Charles Alspach on January 3rd, 1993, randomly selected an individual as the victim of their planned sexual assault. The state originally alleged that the two men were able to take the victim to rural area and committed sexual abuse against the victim.
