Franklin REC selects Youth Tour participant

Franklin REC has selected one student to participate in the all-expense paid Youth Tour to Washington, D-C from June 15th-21st.

This is Franklin REC CEO Garrett Thompson.

"So we have Stephanie Torres. She was just selected a couple of weeks ago to be our Franklin REC nomination for the 2024 youth tour, which will take place in June. So that's pretty much a week long trip that we get to sponsor a kid to go out. They learn about Washington, D.C. They get to meet with Chuck Grassley and Randy Feenstra and Joni Ernst and a lot of different politicians and be able to talk to them about what's going on in rural Iowa. And then they also get to meet a lot of other kids across the state of Iowa from other electric co-ops that are sponsoring children as well."

In addition, Franklin REC will hold their annual meeting Tuesday, April 2nd at the Franklin County Convention Center in Hampton.  Voting ballots can be mailed, dropped off, or brought to the annual meeting, with a drive thru set up from 4-5:30pm, and then the traditional meeting will be held from 6:30-7:30pm.

Thompson made his comments on Franklin County Development’s feature program on KLMJ.  FCDA Economic Spotlight can be heard every Thursday at 12:50pm on 104.9 FM with archived programs available at radio on the go dot com.
