Cadets host Bulldogs in NCC rivalry

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs and the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets meet Monday afternoon for a doubleheader on the Soccer Field.

In this edition of the “Battle for Bradford,” the H-D-CAL girls are 1-1 after last week's loss to Clear Lake and win over Belmond-Klemme. Junior Teaghan Bird has scored the lone goals of the season for the Bulldogs, with the second coming in the final minutes at home against the Broncos.

Iowa Falls-Alden girls soccer is 1-0, after defeating Clear Lake 4-2 in the season opener. Senior Abigail Ites and junior Deana Raisch come into the rivalry matchup having scored two goals each on the year.

The Cadets lead the Bound era series 4-0, winning four straight since 2019, all in dominant fashion.

The H-D-CAL boys will meet IFA in part two of the doubleheader. The Bulldogs are 2-0 after handling Clear Lake, and most recently taking over Belmond-Klemme in the second half of Thursday’s 4-0 final. Hampton-Dumont-CAL Boys Soccer Head Coach Danielle Arana says last week’s games were a good preparation for the Cadets.

"Learning to adjust was just a whole different game from Tuesday so having two different types of games [last] week is hopefully and advantage we have for Monday."

The Iowa Falls-Alden boys are 0-1 after their opener with the Lions. Assistant Coach Brendan Chaney says that the matchup with the Bulldogs is a meaningful one.

"For sure that Monday game against Hampton is a big game for us, being in conference and everything else."

The girls varsity contest will be broadcasted on 104.9 KLMJ, with pre-game coverage from Iowa Falls starting at 5:20 p.m.
