Falcon Boys Track & Field to finally open season Thursday

The Aplington-Parkersburg boys track & field team will compete in a long-awaited season opener Thursday at Hudson. The Falcons were scheduled to compete at Tuesday’s Spartan Coed in Grundy Center that was called off due to weather.

The Falcons will begin their season as an experienced team. Head Coach Mark Haren says it’s a deep group with hopes for a strong season.

"There's so many guys back," Haren says. "The seniors, Jack Eddy, Kaden Huttinger, Joe Johnson, Aidan Junker, Drew Ogle, Kye Rottinghaus, Adam Schipper, Evan Sheesley, Carson Troyna, Jesse Washington, all guys that have been varsity competitors for three years. I think we've got a chance to be really good this year when you throw them in with juniors like Devin Davis, Nick Neuroth, Kael Stotler, David Ritchie, this is year three for them doing varsity stuff. I know there's a lot of optimism coming into the season."

It’ll be the first outdoor meet for Aplington-Parkersburg after a few student-athletes competed at indoor meets. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in Hudson.
