Lindaman and Bulldogs getting set for Golf Regional
Hampton-Dumont-CAL Girls Golf is preparing for the Class 3A Region 4 Meet at West Delaware this week.
The Bulldogs were last in action Thursday at Waverly-Shell Rock in a 185-230 loss. H-D-CAL also recently competed in Monday’s North Central Conference Meet at Mason City Country Club, where they placed sixth. Junior Madison Lindaman leads the team with a nine hole average of 61.29, and placed 7th individually at conference in 96 strokes.
Hampton-Dumont-CAL Girls Golf Head Coach Dustin Moorehead says that Lindaman had a great performance.
“I really think give or take a couple of shots we easily could’ve got fifth and edged out Webster City, but you know it is how it is. We did have a first since I’ve been an assistant coach or a head coach here. We got an all-conference score with Madison Lindaman.”
Moorehead says that Lindaman has made progress from putting the time in on her short game.
“She came in with a lot of natural ability, and so she’s just picked it up. She listens, she works, she works hard, she’s coachable. So that makes a big difference. She’s always trying to get out there and grind on putting and chipping, which I preach and preach and preach. It’s not always about hitting the long ball, from 100 yards on in is where the strokes are made and lost and she’s grasping that fact and she’s getting there. So yeah, proud of her progress in the last three years.”
The Bulldogs head to Pin Oaks Pub Links & Events Center Wednesday for the competition. Moorehead says the course may be difficult.
“The rough is thick, there’s a bunch of blind shots, there’s some dog legs and different things… So I think we’re in for a tough course, but… I want us to have fun. I want us to stay mentally sharp. I want us to try to shoot the best score that we possibly can.”
The Bulldogs get underway at 10:00 a.m.
