Local teams set to confront Tuesday night on the pitch
Iowa Falls-Alden and the Wright County Boys Soccer Team will collide in a Class 3A Substate 2 First Round matchup at Belmond-Klemme High School Tuesday night.
Unfortunately for the Cadets, their season has yet to see a change in the win column heading into their first postseason game of 2023. While IFA has had some tough times in North Central Conference games this season, their closest matchup of the year came against Wright County in their third game back on April 6. Goals from juniors Kaden Meyer and Colton England weren't enough for IFA as senior Brian Duran, sophomore William Rivera, and junior Luis Matute all scored for Wright County in the comeback 3-2 win.
Wright County captured their fourth and most recent win against Iowa Falls-Alden May 1 in a 8-1 blowout. Sophomore Andy Rivera completed a hat trick. Wright County has since suffered two shutout road losses to end their regular season. Iowa Falls-Alden last played Webster City and dropped the contest 10-0.
The winner of this third and final meeting between both teams will move on to face a 13 win Humboldt squad in the second round.
