Field of Dreams Game a Highlight of Cowboys Summer

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball team had a unique opportunity this summer to play a regular season game at the Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville.

C-G-D Activities Director Jeff Meyer, who attended the memorable game, says the setting of the field delivered viewers to times of baseball’s past.

"It was really kinda cool to go play, I'll say in the old fashioned setting because there were no fences basically, so your sitting, like you would've in a park, in lawn chairs along the side," says Meyer. "You know you see the farm house and the farm buildings right over off to the side and your just sitting in your lawn chair watching the game. It just brings back, back in the day of when you had town, park events and the the kids were just out playing a game."

Meyer says that pregame warmups provided a chance for players and their fathers to play catch.

"Very excited, thrilled to have the opportunity over there. Even during warm ups, some of the players got their dads and off to the side were playing catch with them, you know just kinda like you see in the movie Field of Dreams, so it was a fun night."

The Cowboys defeated St.Edmond, Fort Dodge 8-1.

The Cowboys graduated three seniors including Nevan Foss, Preston Gardner, and Matthew Gudka. They finished the season 9-22 and placed sixth in the North Central Conference.
