Cowboys Visit Southeast Valley for Week 3 Matchup

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows football team travels to Southeast Valley for its final non-district game in Week 3 in Gowrie.

The Cowboys are 1-1 after a 34-7 home-opening loss to Hampton-Dumont-CAL in Week 2. Head Coach Caleb Vogel says the Jaguars are a quality opponent to wrap up non-district play and for the Cowboys going forward, belief and execution in team process will be key to success.

"I think it is going to be another tough non-district game," says Vogel. "Southeast Valley has been very well coached, Mike Swieter has done a great job for them and he just coninue to do it. They've got some good players at wide reciever, their quarterback is coming back, their just a team that we can't look past and we just got to prepare and get ready for them on Friday. Probably the same gameplan that we are going to do every single week, we just got to execute our stuff, be good at the things that we do. All 45 guys we have on the roster right now, just have to understand their role and do their job and know that the process is there and we just got to continue to believe that, then push forward."

The Cowboys are led by senior quarterback Carson Nesheim with 221 passing yards and touchdown, running back Diego Gonzalez with 78 rushing yards and two TD’s, and senior wideout Colin Kirstein with 176 receiving yards and a touchdown this season. Defensively, junior linebacker Caleb Seaba has racked up 16 total tackles.

The Jaguars are 2-0 after a 59-6 win in their home opener over Eagle Grove in Week 2. The Jaguars are led by junior quarterback Cale Vansickle with 291 passing yards and two TD’s, junior running back Brady Hanson with 137 rushing yards and five TD’s, senior wideout Andrew Miller has added 107 recieving yards and two TD’s on only four receptions this season. Defensively, senior safety Dalton Crouse has added 12.5 total tackles.

The Cowboys won last year’s meeting 24-8 in Gowrie.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in Gowrie.
