Bulldog Football Plays in Ranked Matchup with Nevada for Homecoming in Week 4

The #9 (3A) Hampton-Dumont-CAL football team takes on #6 (3A) Nevada in homecoming game and final non-district game Friday night in Hampton. Both teams also enter the contest undefeated.

The Bulldogs are 3-0 after a dominant win in home opener 43-0 over West Marshall in Week 3. Head Coach Cole Miller says the Cubs present a diverse rushing attack for the Bulldogs to track and says that homecoming builds on a great climate at home games created by the Bulldog community.

"Their a very good football team, they are tough, their physical," says Miller. "They like to run the ball at you with their running back and with their quarterback and they have a big tight end who moves around in a fullback spot to and leads the hole. I'm expecting a very physical football game, very good football team that's gonna come down for homecoming this week. The energy, all of the people coming back and supporting, that's just going to add to that atmosphere we love already. I'm excited to see all the fans in the stands and just feed off that energy."

The Bulldogs are led by senior dual threat quarterback Gavin Meader with 313 passing yards, 250 rushing yards, and 13 touchdowns (five passing and eight rushing) which is tied for the most offensive touchdowns in 3A. Senior running back Brody Walton has 350 rushing yards and four touchdowns and senior wideout Tucker Heeran 167 receiving yards and three touchdowns on nine receptions. The Bulldogs leading tackler is senior Tate Murray with 10.5 total tackles and one interception. Miller says the Cubs provide a great preview of upcoming district opponents.

"Their is alot of exciting football to be played coming up down the road. I think that Nevada is going to be a good test for us, their a tough football team, they run some stuff that our district runs offensively and defensively. I think this will be good preparation as well as a good test for us heading into that district."

The Cubs are 3-0 after a 27-7 win over PCM in Week 3. They’re are led by junior quarterback Connor King with 402 passing yards and six touchdowns and 146 rushing yards and a touchdown. Senior running back Carson Stevenson with 504 rushing yards and four touchdowns and senior receiver Jacob Khounsourath with 13 receptions for 238 yards and five touchdowns, a mark that is tied for first in 3A.

Last year’s meeting the Cubs won 24-23 in Nevada.
