Bearcat Volleyball Hosts Nashua-Plainfield in Dig Pink Match Tuesday Night

The North Butler volleyball team will return home for a Top of Iowa Conference match with Nashua-Plainfield Tuesday night in Greene. It’s also Dig Pink night as the Bearcats honor and remember with their breast cancer awareness match for this season.

North Butler enters 8-13 and 1-4 in Top of Iowa play after going 2-3 at the Gladbrook-Reinbeck tournament on Saturday. The Bearcats had 2-1 wins over Colo-Nesco (21-14, 19-21, 15-5) and East Buchanan (18-21, 21-19, 15-12). The Bearcats losses came 2-0 to Waterloo Christian (21-9, 21-14), 2-0 to AGWSR (21-13, 21-14), and 2-1 to GMG (16-21, 21-17, 15-9). Head Coach Sarah Goodrich says it will be great to be back home and Tuesday night’s match is an opportunity for the Bearcats to bring awareness to something bigger than volleyball.

"It's really exciting not only to be back home but it is also our Dig Pink Night," says Goodrich. "For us at North Butler it's a huge night of not only volleyball but something bigger than that and especially with our past head coach currently battling it herself. Breast cancer impacts alot of these girls and it kinda teaches them, that we are fighting for more than just the game and putting something bigger to the court."

The Bearcats leaders are junior Olivia Dralle with 75 kills, senior Regan Mulder with 120 assists, junior Macy Endelman with 117 digs and seniors Kaycee Wiebke and Lauren Fleshner each with 21 total blocks.

Nashua-Plainfield enters the match after hosting a tournament on Saturday. The Huskies are 1-5 in Top of Iowa. The Huskies are led by sophomore Lily Eiffler with 45 kills, sophomore Kami Hannemann with 131 assists, and senior Jalynn Pratt with 109 digs.

The Huskies won last year’s match up 3-1 in Nashua. The match will air on 104.9 KLMJ with pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. The match gets underway at 7:00 p.m. in Greene.
