IGHSAU announces basketball postseason brackets
Area girls basketball teams know their paths to the state tournament after the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union announced regional postseason brackets Wednesday.
In Class 1A, AGWSR is in Region 2, and will host Baxter in a first round game. In Region 6, North Butler will play a first round game at Mason City Newman, and Clarksville will host Janesville the same night.
In Class 2A Region 1, Dike-New Hartford is the #1 seed and Aplington-Parkersburg is a #2 seed. The Wolverines will host the winner of Postville at Waterloo Columbus, and the Falcons will host the winner of South Winneshiek at Wapsie Valley. In Region 2, West Fork will host South Hardin in the first round. Belmond-Klemme will host South Central Calhoun in a first round game in Region 5. Grundy Center is the #2 seed in Region 8, and will host the winner of Madrid at Grand View Christian.
In Class 3A, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is in Region 2, and will play a first round game at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura. In Region 4, Hampton-Dumont-CAL will play a first round game at #1 seed Roland-Story, and Iowa Falls-Alden will play a first round game at Clear Lake.
The 1A postseason begins Thursday, February 8. The 2A and 3A postseasons begin on Saturday, February 10.
