Hampton-Dumont-CAL Spring Sports Update – 5-2-25

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer teams split a non-conference doubleheader at Wright County Thursday. The girls fell 2-0 and the boys won 3-1.

In the girls game, the Bulldogs gave up the fewest goals to an opponent since a 0-0 tie against the Broncos in April.

In the boys game, Wright County scored on a free kick and led 1-0 at halftime. Just over a minute into the second half, Christian Zavala connected on a long goal to tie the game. Five minutes later, Hunter Rieken connected on a long shot for a 2-1 lead, and Jesus Flores connected at the 28:11 mark for the two-goal lead to complete the scoring. Both soccer teams will be at Charles City Friday, with the girls game at 5:00, followed by the boys game.

The girls golf team placed second with 220 strokes at a triangular at AGWSR, behind AGWSR’s 192 and ahead of Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s 224. Kenzie Moorehead placed second with 43 strokes. They’ll be back in action Friday by joining Iowa Falls-Alden at Clear Lake at 4:30.

The boys tennis team fell 5-0 at Aplington-Parkersburg. The meet ended early due to rain.

In Friday action, the girls tennis team will host Aplington-Parkersburg at 4:15 at Progress Park. The boys golf team will host Clear Lake and Iowa Falls-Alden for a triangular at Hampton Country Club at 4:30. The track & field teams will host the Jim Basye Coed Relays at 4:30.
