Area alumni headed to NJCAA Nationals with DMACC women’s basketball

Hampton-Dumont-CAL 2025 alumni Brooklyn and Jordan Valley and South Hardin alum Alli Sheldahl have punched their ticket to the NJCAA Division II national tournament as part of the #24 Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) women’s basketball team.

The Bears at 25-8 overall earned their bid, with a 86-71 win over the United Tribes Technical College in the North Central District B championship game on Saturday. The Bears postseason run began with a 95-63 win over Iowa Central in the regional semifinal and a 55-51 win over #5 Kirkwood in the regional championship. 

As a starter this postseason, Jordan Valley has delivered 19 points and 14 assists. Jordan Valley scored eight points and had a team best seven assists in the Bears win over United Tribes. Off the bench this postseason, Brooklyn Valley has scored 22 points and has tracked down seven rebounds. Brooklyn Valley had six points and secured four rebounds against United Tribes.

Appearing in 20 games this season, Sheldahl has averaged over four minutes of action and connected on 30 percent of shots, scoring 17 points while recording 31 rebounds.

The national tournament seedings will be announced on Tuesday, March 10 at 4:00 p.m.
