Voters in the West Fork School District approved a $16,865,000 bond issue last November, with 62.55% of voters approving the measure. Superintendent Mike Kruger tells RadioOnTheGo News there is a lot of work between now and breaking ground on projects.
“We’ve been working with our architects, our engineers, coming up with plans and then the bond process working with our financial advisors Piper Sandler and they’ve just been a great help and support through this process. So yeah, we’ll be able to have some of the funding start coming in and then you know the projects the biggest part of them the HVAC parts just because of timing that will start the summer of 2026 with the other part of the HVAC being done at the other campus in the 2027 summer. That type of work can’t be done while school’s in session. So we are going to break that project up.”
Kruger says they hope to begin projects this summer, including the safe and secure entrance at the Sheffield campus.
“You know, part of it was the safe and secure entrance as we’re doing that. And with some of the staffing changes we’ve had that safe and secure entrance, we’re going to look at where the office should be. If we’re to go down to one administrator at the Sheffield campus, we think that office needs to be more centrally located within the building. So we’re going to look at getting that started. We’re getting plans now. Another part that might be part of that early work could be roof projects, but again, it’s getting late or you know, just because of the timing wise. But if there’s some parts of that that can be done while students are in session, you know, we can do that if it’s not going to disrupt the learning environment.”
Other projects included in the bond are electrical distribution upgrades, removing asbestos material in the elementary school and upgrading classroom lighting.
