The Dumont American Legion will host a Memorial Day dedication to its Veterans Memorial on May 26th.

The legion broke ground on the project last summer and Terry Juhl, a member of the Dumont American Legion, tells RadioOnTheGo News there has been great support for the memorial; located south of the legion building.

“We started out with 400 names from the area that would be on the memorial. And as of right now, we’re over 1,100. So it’s turned into quite a bit bigger project than what we had started with. And before we go on, I just want to give a lot of credit to Al Buseman and his wife Peg, who headed up this project, who have done a magnificent job. And I’d really like to thank the people that have dedicated and given us money and enabled us to continue on with the project. And we’re really blessed to have a community that is supporting us in what we’re doing.”

The Memorial Day dedication will include a tribute to each branch of service and a performance of “America the Beautiful.” The guest speaker will be Hampton-Dumont Middle School Principal Tony Spradlin, who is currently with the Air National Guard.

The Dumont American Legion Veterans Memorial dedication will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday at the memorial site along Main Street.
