The Dike-New Hartford girls tennis team had its season end in a Class 1A quarterfinal Saturday, falling 5-0 to Decorah at Byrnes Park in Waterloo. It was the team’s second consecutive state tournament appearance.
The Vikings took all but #2 singles by 2-0 sweeps. Aida Tott forced a tiebreaking third set at #2, and Izzy Norton at #1 didn’t get a chance to finish her match due to the dual being clinched.
The team finished its dual record at 18-2, with the only other loss happening against 1A semifinalist Pella.
The program will be represented at the individual state tournament by doubles pairs Izzy Norton/Aida Tott and Addy Joslin/Lauren Muller.
