The #15 (2A) Dike-New Hartford softball team was defeated 8-0 in five innings at #9 (1A) Wapsie Valley in NICL crossover action Wednesday.
The Warriors got on the board with six runs in the second inning and added two more in the fifth to win via the run margin rule. Head Coach Tianna Butteris hopes the team can continue to limit opponent run production.
“A lot of the stuff is working for right now, but defensively, I think we could be better,” Butteris says. “Moving forward, I want to focus on clean defense and making plays that we can make, and then we’ve had a big focus on having fun. Because why are we out here if we’re not going to have fun? I mean they’re here over their summertime, they’re here over their break. We’ve got to find a way to have fun, even when maybe it’s not such a fun situation. So we’ve worked really hard on trying to bring the fun back, and I think that’s helped us a lot.”
They and the baseball team will return to NICL-Central action by hosting Hudson for doubleheaders Thursday. The games will start at 5:00.
