Bulldog Baseball swept at home by #6 (3A) Algona Thursday

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL baseball team was swept at home by #6 (3A) Algona Thursday. They fell 10-0 in six innings in the first game and 11-1 in six innings in the second game. It kept Algona undefeated in conference play and alone in first place in the standings.

In the first game, Algona pitchers combined for a six-inning no hitter, with Tate Slagle pitching the first five innings and Foster Myhre entering for one relief inning. Carson Helmke and Camden Peil each drew walks for the only Hampton-Dumont-CAL offensive output.

Each team scored once in the first inning of the second game, with Helmke scoring Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s only run. Algona scored six in the fourth to pull away and eventually end the game early. Blaek Burmester also doubled to provide an offensive highlight in an otherwise slow night at the plate.

Hampton-Dumont-CAL will return to action Monday at St. Edmond for a doubleheader.
