The Butler County Sheriff’s Office recently investigated the report of a stolen Kubota tractor—only to discover the machine had originally been taken from a dealership in Indiana.
Authorities say the tractor has changed hands multiple times since the theft, eventually turning up in Butler County. Investigators determined that the local individuals who had the tractor were unaware it had been stolen, and the same goes for the person they purchased it from.
The Sheriff’s Office says no charges are expected in Butler County, as there is no indication of wrongdoing by the current or previous owners. However, because the tractor is confirmed stolen, it will need to be returned to the original dealership in Indiana.
The case remains part of a broader investigation involving multiple jurisdictions.
