The West Fork School District is moving ahead with phase II of its HVAC improvement project, a key component of the bond passed by voters in November 2024. At the board meeting Monday, the school board finalized decisions on the type of HVAC system to be used. West Fork Superintendent Mike Kruger.

“The upcoming school year, we’re excited to get the kids back in the buildings. Teachers are getting ready to go. Got a lot of great things happening here and you know, we’re just focusing on making this a great, great year for our kids, our families. We want it to be a great experience for our kids and you know, just a lot of optimism as we’re looking forward to kicking off this year next Monday.”

Kruger says bids for materials and construction will be going out soon. The district plans to finish work at the Rockwell campus in the summer of 2026. Once completed, attention will turn to the Sheffield campus, with HVAC installation set for the summer of 2027.

In addition to the HVAC improvements, the district is wrapping up the safe and secure entrance project at the high school in Sheffield. While originally scheduled for this summer, the timing of bond funding delayed the start but will be completed later this year, using a combination of bond and safety grant dollars.

As part of this upgrade, the high school office will be relocated to a more central location, enhancing visibility and access for students and staff. This move will support the district’s plan to have 6-12 Principal Daren Huisenga more accessible in his new office in Sheffield.
