Wright County Conservation will host their second annual End of Summer Bash Saturday, August 30th at the Lake Cornelia Park and Campground, northeast of Clarion. Known as the Labor Day Celebration in 2024, the event looks to celebrate summer as the season changes to fall.
Franklin and Wright County Naturalist Aubrey Brown, who was on our recent Outdoors in North Iowa program on 104.9 KLMJ, says there will be activities for everyone.
“We will be having several outdoor activities available to participate in to give the public an opportunity to try something new or may not have easy access to. Practice your aim at our 3D archery shoot with over 30 3D targets from small critters like raccoons to big critters like black bears or even extinct animals like dinosaurs. Show off your shooting skills over at Tin Can Alley with BB guns. Dabble in some paddling with kayaking at the beach and try out fishing in the harbor. There will be face painting and yard games to do as well. One of the most favorite activities with the kids are inflatables, which we will be having again this year.”
These activities will run from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Brown says they’ve added new activities for this year’s event.
“Come meet, feed, and pet lots of cute animals from the Hovick Family Farm Petting Zoo. They will be bringing lots of different animals such as a llama, alpaca, miniature donkey, pony, mini cow, several goats, sheep, mini pig, rabbit, and chickens. Come meet some local firefighters from the Clarion Fire Department and learn about fire safety and see a demonstration. We will also be having a glow party from 7pm to 10pm with glow sticks, music, s’mores, and more.”
There will be food trucks available and the conservation board will host a free-will donation meal from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Wright County Conservation End of Summer Bash is Saturday from 2:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Lake Cornelia Park and Campground, northeast of Clarion.
