After more than three decades in ag and commercial lending, John Paulus of Rockford is set to retire. Paulus will step down September 3rd after 35 years in finance, including the last 32 at First Security Bank. He began his career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1990 before moving to First Security in 1993. While based at the Rockford branch since 2011, Paulus has worked with customers across North Central Iowa—including in Aredale, Charles City, Dumont, and Rockwell as well as other towns in First Security’s footprint in North Central Iowa.
Paulus says the most rewarding part of his career has been seeing young farmers succeed. Bank leaders praised his knowledge, humor, and dedication to customers. In retirement, Paulus plans to spend more time with family, take on home projects, and get in some extra rounds of golf.
