The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident just after 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 1 in the 1600 block of Highway 65. According to Franklin County Sheriff Aaron Dodd, a 2008 Honda Accord, driven by 19-year-old Alex Reyes of Hampton, lost its front passenger tire. The Accord was parked in the northbound lane while Reyes and his unidentified passenger were on the gravel shoulder attempting to retrieve the tire when a 1976 Chevrolet Corvette, driven by Anthony Galindo of Mason City, struck the rear of the Honda.
The Honda was pushed into the east ditch. Reyes and the passenger were not injured. Galindo was taken to MercyOne in Mason City to be evaluated. Both vehicles were totaled during the accident.
