In the second set, Osage with an 8-7 lead went on a 8-0 run to go up 16-7. The Bearcats never got closer than eight from that point as the Green Devils went up 2-0 in the match. In the third set, jumped out to a 12-4 lead and went on a 13-11 scoring run to close out the conference win. Bearcats Head Coach Sarah Goodrich on the team’s next step to make further progress.
“We’ve improved a ton defensively, transitioning and moving as one unit. Stepping up into those questionable balls and using our voices just a little bit more,” says Goodrich. “We saw great things tonight. There were great swings from people that it hasn’t been falling for and hitting a lot more out of system wise. Our block was there tonight, which helps our defense so much. I think we have the pieces but it’s just that final step, using our voices to come together as one.”
Amelia Thompson had six kills, Addison Ulrich and Linde Fleshner each had three kills apiece to lead the Bearcats. The Green Devils had four different hitters with four or more kills, led by Addison Marcks with 10.
North Butler (4-6, 2-3 TIC-East) will return to the court for Belmond-Klemme Invite on Saturday.
