The Harriman-Nielsen Fall Festival is Sunday at the historic farm on the west side of Hampton.

Funds raised from the event will go toward the upkeep of the Harriman-Nielsen Historic Farm and board member Berry Johnson tells RadioOnTheGo News restoration efforts continue, including roof repairs this summer after a storm brought damage to the farm in April.

“We turn right around and invest in the property with the upkeep, we continue to do some renovation things that gradually we’re getting everything done, but it’s an ongoing process. Of course, with the hailstorm that we had here in Hampton area, the roof on the house and the barn and the outbuildings were affected. We have just completed the shingling of the house and the barn. So that is done. The small buildings (we) are waiting on, but yes, they look nice. We have a new shingle, a composite shingle that I think is very attractive and will last, we hope, for many, many years to come.”

There will be activities for all ages with wagon rides, carnival games and pumpkin painting for those attending the festival. There will be pumpkins, squash and gourds available for purchase and again this year, there will be tours of the historic house.

“If you haven’t toured the house, I highly recommend it. There’s lots and lots of Franklin County history that comes alive when you go inside the house. So if you’re around on Sunday afternoon, go in the house. There will be people there to guide the tour and share some information about the Nielsen family in particular.”

The Harriman-Nielsen Fall Festival is Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. RadioOnTheGo will broadcast live from the event from 12:30 to 3:30.
