A few hundred residents in Hampton woke up to a power outage this morning after an early morning accident. MidAmerican Energy reported that a power pole was struck just after 5:00 a.m. at the intersection of 12th Avenue Northwest and Olive Avenue. The incident immediately caused an outage affecting 272 customers in the surrounding neighborhood.
MidAmerican crews responded quickly. By approximately 6:20 a.m., just over an hour after the pole was hit, crews were able to perform switching operations to restore power to nearly all customers. As of that time, only one customer remained without service while final repairs were completed.
